That, of course, makes Albania a great place to visit.

Korca - Albania |
Korca is a city located in eastern Albania, near the Greek border. Built on high shelves, Korca is a must-have if you love Turkish-style rugs. The whole town seems to be devoted to making and selling rugs of all sizes, colors and varieties. If you stay overnight, Hotel Iliria is the best choice for you. At one time or another, Petrela was the main defense of the city of Durres. It was owned, used, and conquered by the Romans, Greeks, Turks, and others. Seriously off the beaten path, getting to Petrela requires a rugged Jeep or Landcruiser. It's a very bumpy road, but the view is worth it.

As Albania is struggling to recover from a communist pass, it's a pretty safe place to visit. The people are very nice and this is definitely an opportunity to visit a country that is off the beaten track.
